Winners Post for December 2017

Our December challenge ironically held 25 entries - ho ho ho!  We are truly pleased that despite the holiday preparations, so many of you played along.  Thanks to each one who participated, visited and commented.  If you have yet to review the December entries please visit the post for inspiration overload.  It's never an easy job to narrow down to a few winners, but without further ado...

The overall design team favorite badge goes to Maria of Magic Attic Designs!  Maria, we would love to invite you to be our guest designer for the month of February.  Please email Autumn at teamclark@rocketmail.com to discuss further.

For certain, there isn't a one of us who would not love to be in one of Maria's live workshops!  Her expert hand produces such skilled placement of so many beautiful elements.  With so many tricks up her sleeve, each page is filled with delightful interactive elements.  As if the cover alone wasn't beautiful enough!

Our top five entries are equally stunning.  Each of you, please take our top five badge and display it proudly on your blogs.  In no particular order...

WuWu of Zatoka Wspomnien, whose simple ring binding does offers proof that you can make beautiful works in any format!  These pages beg to be touched and inspected, with so much detail - what beauty!

Georgia Rossini who inspires us all to get out in the world and capture those precious memories!  Each page is filled with joy and made with love, recording a once in a lifetime adventure.  A must make!

Nora of Creations by Nora made a video while designing this one of a kind matchbook mini.  There are so many amazing details and Nora's process is always a joy to see.  What a tribute to texture play!

Susan of Klistersøster upcycled beautiful Christmas postage stamps into this mini work of art.  I had to scroll up and down and up and down to take in the many details packed into this small footprint.  The binding method is great too, a must see!

Ragozina Olga of Gifts with the Soul used gorgeous papers from our sponsor Graphic 45.  All you G45 lovers brace yourselves!  Her fabric cover and beautiful folds and flips will take your breath away.  The entire work is a lesson in balance of color and shape, a triumph!

Thank you all very much for playing along.  And now, the announcement of the winner of the Eileen Hull Sizzix Mini Album ScoreBoard XL Mini Album die.

And the winner is.....

Jennie of Live the Dream!  Jennie shared the most incredible elongated shabby album with us.  How beautiful and inspiring!

Biggest congratulations!  Jennie, please email Autumn at teamclark@rocketmail.com to claim your prize.

January Mini Album Tutorials and Challenge

Happy New Year to each of you!  What an amazing finish to 2017 with so much inspiration from our participants, guest designers and design team.  It was wonderful to see each and every project and get to know some new faces.  If you haven't visited the December entries, do hop over and check them out.  Today we begin a new challenge with a fabulous sponsor, Lindy's Stamp Gang!

One lucky participant will win a generous $25 gift certificate to the Lindy's online shop.  :)  This month our team wows us with more inspiring albums.  Hop around to each blog for the full reveal and tutorial for each project.

Anne

As another new year begins, my thoughts turned to Valentine's Day and I made a 4" square mini album from two sheets of paper and some fabulous Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts.

Astrid

My aim for the January challenge was to make something useful and also to use some of my endless collection of hoarded papers and other stash. So I created a desk top calendar album. Here are the cover and some of the inside pages. If you want to see the rest, please hop over to my blog.

Alison

As you probably know, words are a major part of my world, so I made myself a journal to collect thoughts, ideas, phrases and rhymes ready to play with.  I used the lovely leafy garland (by one of our sponsors, Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts) to create decorative masking detail on the inner pages, so do hop over to Words and Pictures to take a look inside.

Gloria

There is nothing quite like a blank journal to start the New Year! Blank pages are full of possibility! I created an 8 1/2" x 8 1/2" journal with lots of pages for writing notes and ideas. The canvas and beach theme makes me feel relaxed and serene. Visit Scraps of Life for all the details and a tutorial for creating this hidden spiral binding.

In the archive of my parents there are many old family photos. I decided to make an album for them.

Autumn

I've been longing to compile an album filled with my favorite stamped images by PaperArtsy.  I worked through creating this progressive style flip fold album, with lots of shabby crackly details.  Visit me at SewPaperPaint for more.

I hope these peeks have sparked your imagination and you will pay the design team blogs a visit.  We welcome you to play along with our challenge, which ends at 11:55 pm EST on January 31.  Join us on January 7 for our December winners announcement.

Our challenge follows a few simple rules:
Any Handmade Book Goes.  Enter any form of handmade mini albums, scrapbooks, journals and book arts.  Our focus is on completed works, so no layouts or journal spreads that are not part of a complete handmade book project.  You do not have to provide a tutorial, but we wish you would.  Feel free to use one of the DT tutorials to make your project and give proper credit where due.

No back linking allowed.
Please add our badge to your post and link to our challenge.

Combine with any other challenges as applicable.  No limit on entries.  Share the love by visiting and commenting on other entries.  Please become a follower.  That's it - have fun!

Interactive G45 World Fair Mini Album Tutorial with Maggi Harding

Hi there, I am Maggi Harding and I am super excited to be the guest designer this month!  This is such a great blog, with so much inspiration for all mini album makers from those that are just learning to those that have been making minis for years.  There's something for everyone.

Now, I know it's December and  I know many of us are deep into holiday projects, but I thought it would be fun to take a break from that and do something really colorful and fun.  Bright and bold colors are my favorites and so I've chosen Graphic 45's World's Fair collection to make a really fun mini with lots of interactive pages.

In the process video tutorial below, I show you how I made all the pages and share some of tips and tools with you.  If you like my tutorial, please subscribe to my channel and give me a thumbs up, I surely would appreciate that!

Now here's a look at some of the pages inside.

This page features a set of photo mats that are layered over each other and flip up; this is called a waterfall.  These are great fun to build and I used a Spellbinder's Tammy Tutterow  die set to make my waterfall.

I also incorporated a couple of Graphic 45 Policy Envelopes in my mini.  They are great for holding little loose objects that you don't want to lose.  You can use most envelope in your mini, it does not have to be a Policy Envelope.  On the right side there's a tuck spot and a flap that opens up to reveal another photo or journaling spot.

The left page has a flip up that hides a pull out that can hold 5 photos.  The right side is the front of another Policy Envelope.

The right side has a flip up that hides a journaling spot.  It's also a pocket page and you can see the red pull tab peaking out at the top right.

I think this is my favorite set of pages.  The left features a simple pocket, but the right has lots of fun flips.  The below photo shows the page with the first part flipped open.

After flipping the horizontal layer out, you can flip the floral page up and underneath that is another page that also flips up.  You can better see all the action on this page in the video tutorial.

Supplies:
Graphic 45 Worlds Fair Collection
Cardstock
Light weight chipboard
Zip Dry Glue
1/8" thick foam tape
Scor-Tape assorted widths, 1/8", 1/4", 1/2"
Miscellaneous Petaloo flowers
Cinch machine for binding - Note you could easily punch two or three holes and bind with rings.

I hope this has inspired you to play along with the December challenge for a chance to win an Eileen Hull Sizzix Scoreboard XL Mini Album die.
